This is the latest newsletter, dated the 13th of January, 2010, from Neil and Esther Henderson, the Climate Realists against the Emissions Trading Scheme.

Welcome all, to the second Climate Realists' Newsletter for 2010.
We trust you are all well and some of you may even be enjoying a break over the summer.
The Hendersons have almost caught up on the work which didn't get done while we were organising and presenting the petition last year, and we now have crutching, shearing etc looming on the horizon.
At least these cooler temperatures make it a little easier on the dogs and humans as they retrieve errant freshly-weaned lambs from most of the paddocks on this side of the farm!

A special welcome to the considerable number of new people who have joined us.
We are always looking for new members, so spread the word about this network.
Remember, all contributions are very welcome, the longer ones are put on to our website www.climaterealists.org.nz and the others are added to the weekly newsletter.
We have discovered a slight problem with our website contact system in that a few of the 'contact us' emails from the website have not been reaching us, so please email us at doonhill@farmside.co.nz if you need to get in touch with us.

Many people are asking us what can be done to let the government know of their opposition to the ETS and all its ramifications.

Write letters:

To your MP-ordinary MP's are:
name dot surname @ parliament.govt.nz
John Key:
j.key@ministers.govt.nz ,
Nick Smith:
n.smith@ministers.govt.nz ,

To your local paper- we have discovered more and more letters are being published from the skeptics' side, which is progress.
A tip from one of our members: I have found when writing to the editor of a paper, that if you put at the bottom of your letter; "not sent to any other broadsheets" they love it, being called "broadsheets" puts them in the league of the Times and Telegraph etc, it feeds their ego.

Make Complaints:
When a broadcaster presents something on radio or television we have the right to make a complaint about it on a number of different grounds.
The relevant ones for us are generally accuracy, balance and fairness.
Guidelines are available at http://www.bsa.govt.nz/complaints-intro.php

Global Research Alliance Meeting in Wellington in March:
Neil wrote an article about this which appeared in the NZ Farmers Weekly this week. It is available online at:
http://www.climaterealists.org.nz/node/205
Watch this space for details of Climate Realists' action at this meeting.
We are still working through considerations for the best course of action to take. Suggestions welcome!

All the best,
Neil and Esther

Lord Monckton continues his work in presenting the truth behind the climate change scam. He will be touring Australia shortly, but unfortunately for us all will not be able to include New Zealand in his itinerary.

Monckton open letter to Rudd under the Letters section of our website www.climaterealists.org.nz

From John:

Subject: Re OVER IN AUSTRALIA (05 January 2010 8.26.22 pm)

Extract- Farmers you need to be aware of what is happening in Australia.
"COULD THIS HAPPEN IN NEW ZEALAND ?"

The short answer is YES it has, and it is still happening.

Extract from someone more knowledgeable than myself to set the scene.

OUR HERITAGE - In New Zealand, and kindred nations, the right to own control and use private property has been the corner-stone of our prosperity. The protection of this "right" is essential for continuing growth and stability. Respect for it, is as vital as "life and liberty".

I will start a short list of "happenings in NZ" that perhaps Climate Realists can add to.

(1) It is recognized that New Zealand has the worst record for abuse of Property Rights in the developed nations. (refer internet)
(2) The Magna Carta our founding document to protect private land ownership, is not being recognized by Government.
(3) Extract- The first official exposure of detailed United Nations land policy was at the "Habitat: United Nations Conference on Human Settlements" held in Vancouver from May 31 to June 11, 1976. The single most important item on that UN agenda was the removal of individual property ownership rights.
(4) Government would not renew South Island hill country pastoral leases, and locked them up in DOC estate.
(3) Forest Amendment Act locked up large areas of native forest on private land.
(5) Environment Waikato's Nutrient cap has devalued land around Lake Taupo, and EW now propose purchasing that land to attract overseas investment in Carbon Farming.
(6) Government locked up large areas of Scrub country for Carbon Credits, and then realized that Kyoto did not recognize Scrub. (A major financial blunder)
(7) Horizons Regional Council wants to fence off extensive areas of fragmented patches of bush and wetlands on farmland, to protect Biodiversity. Farmers will then be required to fence, maintain, enhance, control animal and plant pests, and pay the rates on this locked up land.
The logic behind the farmer paying the rates, is that technically you retain ownership of the land, (even though you can't use it) and therefor are not eligible for compensation.
(8) Maori land claim settlements involving DOC land and co-management of the Waikato and Wanganui Rivers are a relatively recent disturbing trend.
(9) Short extract from an article in the Ruapehu Bulletin.- The Ruapehu District Council had been asked to ratify the New Zealand Local Governments Leaders Climate Change stance that includes the statement " We recognize that we must respond to both the actual and potential physical impacts of climate change" ------- Councilor Ronald Frew said the Government's emissions trading scheme will be "an absolute disaster" for Taumarunui - "all that hill country will be planted in trees and never cut down.

In closing, a personal opinion. - As landowners of fertile productive land with adequate water available, you are sitting on a potential gold mine.
If Global Warming/climate Change has any credibility there will be a further world wide reduction in arable land. (The oil states recognize this, hence the proposed investment in the South island )
Consider the stress generated on land, water, and the worlds food production, by the ever increasing world population,  bio fuel production, carbon farming, and of course Climate Change
The current scramble by Governments and financiers to grab their share of the Carbon Credit cash cow, can only succeed if large tracts of productive land are available to them.
Their logic appears to be, to legislate you into financial ruin, (refer (5) Environment Waikato) and then buy up cheap land. (a more civilized version of third world outright confiscation) Regional Councils have the powers to implement any such policy.
How different it would be, if governments and financiers were to propose joint ventures, with current landowners.

PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY RIGHTS

Regards
John

More evidence that "the science is not settled".

"The bitter winter afflicting much of the Northern Hemisphere is only the start of a global trend towards cooler weather that is likely to last for 20 or 30 years, says leading IPCC scientist who warned of the cooling trend at an IPCC conference in Geneva last September."

BIG DAY OUT

I would like to invite you to an exclusive fundraising event featuring a world class attraction: THE GREAT DAY OUT at Alan Gibbs Farm.

Muriel Newman's New Zealand Centre for Political Research, in conjunction with Owen McShane's Centre for Resource Management Studies, is holding this special fundraiser at Alan's renowned sculpture park on the Kaipara Harbour, on Sunday 28th February, 2010. The Farm features majestic art works from internationally acclaimed artists as well as an eclectic range of exotic animals. Because the park is rarely open to the public we are inviting everyone interested in visiting the park to join us at the Great Day Out.

The gates to the park will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guests will enjoy free access to the sculpture and the animals, a Lanvin Champagne picnic-style lunch, along with the chance to meet interesting people, share ideas, and hear Don Brash, Sir Roger Douglas, and Alan Gibbs explaining what they would do if they were dictator for a year! Paul Holmes will MC this entertaining session.

In addition, guided tours of the art by jeep, rides in Alan Gibbs' Aquada car on the lake, and helicopter flights over the farm and surrounds, are also available.

For comprehensive details about the farm, the artworks, the animals, and our generous sponsors, go to:

http://www.nzcpr.co.nz/great-day-out/index.html

This site will also take you through the Registration process.

We hope you will be able to join us for a wonderful day!

ALEX JONES

Radio show host, Alex Jones of Infowars.com recently spoke with Lord Monckton, the 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, British politician, business consultant, policy adviser, writer, columnist, inventor and hereditary peer. He served as an adviser to Margaret Thatcher's policy unit in the 1980s and invented the Eternity puzzle at the end of the 1990s, as well as the Eternity II in 2007. Monckton attended the Copenhagen climate summit in December. He believes the United Nations under the guise of climate change is working toward the implementation of a Marxist one-world government.

US Weather Bureau Report

The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consul Ifft, at Bergen , Norway. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met with as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts, which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.

So sorry! I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922 as reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post.

Interesting aside to this hypocrisy in a similar vein  Snopes confirmed all the detail in this comparison:

House #1
A 20 room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern 'snow bel' area. It's in the South.

House #2
Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university. This house incorporates every 'green' feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American Southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F.) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape.

HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee; it is the abode of
the 'environmentalist,' Al Gore.

HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas; it is the residence the of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.

As the author states dryly, a rather 'Inconvenient Truth'

CARBON SENSE

For Immediate Release

8 January 2010

'EPA Declares Mothers' Breath Toxic.

The Carbon Sense Coalition today accused the Australian and US governments of ignoring real pollution problems while conducting a vendetta against an innocent bystander, carbon dioxide.

The Chairman of 'Carbon Sense' Mr Viv Forbes, said it was a sick joke that the Australian EPA calls carbon dioxide, the gas of life, a pollutant, while the US EPA has declared the same harmless gas a health hazard.

'The earth's atmosphere contains 386 ppm of CO2, whereas human exhalation contains 40,000 ppm, over 100 times as much. These asinine laws have thus effectively decreed that a mother's warm breath on her baby's face is a toxin.

And still these imbeciles are not laughed out of court.

Meanwhile, Asia gasps in a brown cloud of real pollution like the smogs that smothered London and Pittsburgh in the 1950’s.

The Asian smog is not caused by carbon dioxide.

It comes from dirty combustion  uncontrolled peat and forest fires in Indonesia, open air cremations and cow dung cooking in India, smoky mosquito repelling fires in SE Asia, rubbish dump fires, dust and ash from dirty old boilers and plants, and poor people everywhere scrounging dung, sticks, cardboard, coal, rags, waste oil and anything that burns for cooking and heating.

The London smog was cleared away with coal by wire  clean silent electric heating and lighting from distant steam generators.

Anyone concerned about Asian air pollution would be encouraging the construction of clean reliable modern power stations to replace a myriad of dirty open fires and old boilers.

Instead, fools try to ration and tax a life-supporting, non-polluting, invisible, will-o-the-wisp like carbon dioxide  fiddling while Asia burns.

Maybe the people promoting the war on carbon dioxide should set a good example and cease exhaling.
