Here's a chance to own a truly unique piece of sporting history.

The Northern Knights cricket team has proved that pink is in for men, donning pink uniforms this summer to raise awareness for the team's official charity, the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. Now a player has put a piece of this pink history up for sale.

Northern Knights and BLACKCAPS wicketkeeper Peter McGlashan designed the pink Aero pads he has been wearing throughout the HRV Cup himself and has had them autographed by every player from all six teams in the competition. Now he's put them up for auction on TradeMe, with the money raised from the auction to go straight to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

With absolutely everyone in the 2010 HRV Cup autographing the distinctive pads, the signatures include BLACKCAPS Daniel Vettori, Brendon McCullum, Ross Taylor and Jacob Oram, as well as Sri Lankan and England players Thilkaratne Dilshan, Yasir Arafat and Owais Shah.

McGlashan said he is proud to be able to do his bit for such a worthy cause. “The cause is very dear to me and my family and I wanted to try and do something that will grow awareness and hopefully raise some significant funding for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.”

An identical pair of pink pads has been signed, too, and kept in near mint condition, in case the wear and tear of the HRV Cup is a bit much for some of the autographs on the original pair. McGlashan says the TradeMe auction winner will have the choice of which pair of pink pads they receive.

The opening day of the auction for Pete's pink pads has already seen bidding eclipse the reserve price of $300 and hit $760. The auction closes at 10.30pm on Thursday 28 January and can be found at http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=266851548
