Appointments to the Board of National Pacific Radio Trust

The Minister of Broadcasting announced today the reappointment of Fa'amatuainu Tino Pereira as the chair of the National Pacific Radio Trust and James Prescott and Brian Chamberlin as trustees.


Fa'amatuainu Tino Pereira (Samoan, Wellington) is the current Chair and has over 20 years experience as a journalist, broadcaster and cultural communications specialist. Tino specialises in the development of Pacific communities and the provision of training courses for Pacific people in broadcasting, health and leadership skills. He has represented Pacific people on many intersectoral groups. Prior to his appointment as Chair in 2008 he served as the Vice-Chair of the NPRT Board.


James Prescott (Tongan, Auckland) is the current Vice Chair and is a senior lecturer in Accounting at the Auckland University of Technology (since 2000). He has chaired the Auckland Pacific Island Community Radio Trust for over 10 years. He is also a member of the Pacific Business Trust. With his membership of several community and government-appointed boards in the education, health, broadcasting and commerce sectors, he has a wide experience of governance and extensive networks in the Pacific Island community.


Brian Chamberlin (Palagi, Auckland) is a current Trustee and has considerable experience in broadcasting governance. This includes being a foundation director of Radio Pacific Ltd and a director and Chair of 531pi Ltd. Mr Chamberlin has considerable skills as a broadcaster and his governance skills are an asset to the Trust Board.


Fa'amatuainu Tino Pereira is reappointed for a one-year term from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2010 and Brian Chamberlin's and James Prescott's reappointment terms commenced 1 January 2010 and continues until 30 June 2011.
