Greens applaud move towards NZ rules

Green Party Health Spokesperson Sue Kedgley is delighted that the natural health sector has come up with the outline of a New Zealand based regulatory system for natural health products.

More than 150 organisations and companies from the New Zealand natural health sector today signed up to a joint position statement, detailing plans for an comprehensive yet affordable New Zealand based system.

“We are very pleased with their initiative,” Ms Kedgley says.

“The Green Party has been calling for a robust New Zealand based regulatory system for dietary supplements for the past seven years and we are delighted that a wide cross section of the industry has agreed to the elements of such a system,” Ms Kedgley says. “We look forward to working with them and other parties in the House to introduce such a system.


“The Green Party wants to see the continuation of New Zealand’s flourishing natural health industry, and looks forward to continuing to working with the industry on a robust, New Zealand based regulatory system that would ensure consumers that New Zealand products are safe and true to label
