It’s not often that two businesses can work in sync to bring something new to tempt the taste buds of a discerning market, but two markets – wine and sorbet; is likely to be two markets never before blended like they will be from next week.

Gianpaolo Grazioli of Giapo and Jayson Bryant of The Wine Vault are working together to bring Aucklanders a new taste sensation by blending some of New Zealand’s best Sauvignon Blancs into what has to be Auckland’s only authentic Gelato.

Jayson Bryant is well regarded in the wine aficionado community for his knowledge of wine and his weekly wine show on WineVaultTV, and Gianpaolo Grazioli is well respected for his knowledge and ability to produce a high quality range of Gelato from his shop Giapo on Queen St.

Bryant and Grazioli recently met over a glass of Fiasco Sauvignon Blanc when the idea hit upon the two of them to combine their knowledge of wine and gelato to produce a summer range of Wine Sorbet.

Starting next week Giapo will be producing a series of sorbets containing wines such as Fiasco Sauvignon Blanc which has its own delicate tropical fruit with hints of Passion fruit, grapefruit and twist of citrus. Another wine to be used will be the Wild Rock Elevation Sauvignon Blanc, with fruits such as Kiwifruit mixed with guava and hints of ruby grapefruit which will make this sorbet simply magical.

Other Wine Sorbets will include:
• Lonestone - Marlborough Sauvignon: great acidity from lemon and lime tinged with passionfruit
• Durvillia - A hint of spice and lime, think Marlborough on ice!
• The Darling - Lemon Tea and grapefruit and hints of guava
• Invivo - Riverstone crushed over passionfruit served on a Kafir lime leaf
• The Crossings: Hawke's Bay fruit, apple and spice and all things nice
• St. Clair: Premium wine sorbet, Fresh zesty lime with a twist of passion fruit
• Torea: shredded mango and lime with freshly cut apple

And to cap it off will be Cape Campbell: Kafir lime mixed with lemon gives this sorbet an edge!

All the wines are selected by Jayson Bryant and each sorbet produced will be voted on by customers with comment recorded on which one they liked the most. Bryant and Grazioli will produce a weekly tasting show to discuss the wine sorbet of the week. The tasting shows will be broadcast on The Winevault TV and on Giapo TV.

At the end of the Wine Sorbet series Giapo and The Wine Vault will host a Wine Sorbet Day where they will show case all the sorbets done during the season.
