Hutt City Mayor David Ogden today announced Sparrow Construction Ltd as the successful bidder to refurbish the Korohiwa bus barn at Eastbourne.

"Four bids were received and assessed in terms of building methods, time to complete the project, and value-for-money, among other things," he said.

"We greatly appreciate the time and effort of all the companies who submitted tenders.

"In the end, Sparrow Construction put together an outstanding tender which met all the criteria and is significantly under budget."

The cost of the refurbishment contract is $1,346,441.

"With the tender awarded, the building and resource consents granted, and Cityline confirmed as the anchor tenant, the bus barn upgrade will start shortly.

"I congratulate Sparrow Construction on their successful bid and we look forward to working with them on the refurbishment of this historic Korohiwa landmark."
