Three players will make their debut with one recalled player in the White Ferns One-Day team that has been named to take on the Australian Southern Stars at the Adelaide Oval today.

Captain Aimee Watkins thinks the balance of the side is right, There is a great blend of youth and experience in the group and we are all looking forward to continuing our traditional battle against our great rivals. We are feeling confident going into the series and a good start here in Adelaide will be important"

Left-arm seamer Sian Ruck earns a place in the team with top order batsman Victoria Lind also getting a chance after both players proved themselves in the Twenty20 format for the White Ferns.

Emma Campbell also comes into the team for the first time after putting a string of consistent seasons together for the Otago Sparks. The leg spinner has averaged below 20 with the ball for the last four seasons with an economy rate of less than four an over.

Maria Fahey earns a recall after last playing for the national side in 2007. She has been in top form for the Canterbury Magicians this season, with a high score of 69 not out and an average of 35.28.

Coach Gary Stead said, "We are looking forward to this first match in the series. The players have all come off successful national league seasons so there is an air of excitement amongst them. It was a difficult team to select as I am very happy with the preparation and form of all the players. Our biggest test will be the weather - it has been very hot in Adelaide so that will be a challenge".

The White Ferns met Australia in the Rose Bowl last year with the series tied up at two all before rain intervened with Australia retaining the trophy. Since then the White Ferns have had the wood on their rivals, beating them in the One-Day and Twenty20 World Cups.

The teams will compete for the Rose Bowl in Australia with the trophy again up for grabs later in the month when the teams meet for a five match series in New Zealand.
