While the 2010 Winter Olympics are well underway, the build up for the Winter Paralympics continues for New Zealand athletes Adam Hall and Peter Williams.

Hall from Otago has gained some valuable race time and some top finishes in his preparation with his fifth gold medal, in five years of racing at the Wells Fargo Ski Cup World Invitational.

With up to eight nations training at Winter Park with the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) and more than 20 athletes from these countries planning to compete at the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Paralympics, the event was a good gauge of Hall’s potential to finish on the podium for New Zealand

Hall is the first athlete to achieve five gold medals in this hotly contested event, where professional, world-class disabled ski racers go head-to-head for the prize money.

For Hall, the performance may be indicative of how he could perform at the upcoming Paralympics, 12 - 21 March in Vancouver.

“This result bodes well for Adam in the lead up to the upcoming Paralympics next month. His training and preparations and been going well and he is certainly in with a good chance of a podium finish at the upcoming Vancouver Paralympic Games,” says Fiona Pickering, Chief Executive, Paralympics New Zealand.
