White Ferns preliminary squad for the ICC T20 World Cup has been announced

A 30-player White Ferns squad for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 has been announced.

The full squad from last year’s ICC Twenty20 that made the final has been included along with the top performers from the domestic competition.

Comments from coach and selector Gary Stead:

“It’s a strong squad. We have 19 players who have played for New Zealand this last year. It’s well balanced and well rounded with good cover in all areas.”

“We have also ensured that the 24 players who will participate in a North v South series at Lincoln later this month have all been included in the full squad.

“The final selection process will include the remaining matches in the Rose Bowl series, two Twenty20 games and a 50 over game in the North v South series and fitness testing . We will select the team after that.”

“The final group of 15 players will come together for a camp on the 10th and 11th of April before we head over to the West Indies.”

The White Ferns are in Group B along with India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan with their first match against India on 6th May 2010.
