Green Party Co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons will hand over hundreds of Climate Change Contracts, signed by New Zealanders, to Climate Change Minister David Parker at Parliament this afternoon. The cards were collected on the Greens’ recent Climate Defence Tour. They pledge personal action to reduce emissions and call on the Government to put a price on carbon before 2008 and recycle the funds to help prepare for climate change.

“The public response to the tour has been overwhelming, and we are hoping the Government’s much awaited climate change policy will reflect New Zealanders’ motivation to see immediate and significant action,” Ms Fitzsimons says.

“The ball is in the Government’s court now, and we look forward to seeing decisive policy,” Ms Fitzsimons says.
