New Zealand will ride off for the bronze medal in the men’s team pursuit medal at the UCI World Track Cycling Championships this morning.

They clocked the third fastest time of 3:58.616, just 4/10ths from a spot in the gold medal ride off.
They take on the hosts Denmark with the ride set for 8.30am.

Meanwhile Southland 21-year-old Eddie Dawkins has finished an outstanding fifth in the gruelling kilometre time trial. The youngest rider in the field clocked 1:01.372, bettering his New Zealand record time set in February.

New Zealand has won the bronze medal in the men’s team pursuit medal at the UCI World Track Cycling Championships this morning.

They clocked 3:59.475 to beat off the challenge from hosts Denmark. The kiwis were well in control and won by more than a second despite a mechanical problem with three laps to go for Jesse Sergent.

Australia upset defending world champions Great Britain for the gold medal.

It is their third medal of the world championships.
