Federated Farmers is extending a warm welcome to all New Zealanders to come and see what New Zealand farmers do and how they do it from 10am to 3pm tomorrow, 28 March.

“23 working New Zealand farms are opening their gates tomorrow, so we’re encouraging all Kiwis to dust off their gummies, grab the kids and head down for a fun filled day at one of our local farms,” says Don Nicolson, Federated Farmers President.

“From milking, bee and cattle dog displays to bug CSI, there’s going to be a lot of things to see and do at all the farms.

“I think it’s really important that we, as farmers, hold annual events like this. We come under a lot of scrutiny about our environmental practices, so tomorrow is a chance for the public to see first hand what we’re actually doing to ensure farming in New Zealand is and remains green.

“We’re very proud of the efforts we’re making to protect the environment, so we’re all too happy to show it off to the public.

“Best of all, with the exception of the North Otago farm, they’re all free.

“To find the farm closest to you, just visit www.farmday.org.nz or phone 0800 327 646.

“It’s going to be a great day out for the whole family, so we’ll see you there,” Mr Nicolson concluded.
