QUEENSTOWN

Queenstown has just become even more attractive as a conference and incentive destination with a new adventure activity zipping into the market.

Ziptrek Ecotours, the all-weather, all abilities, all year-round flying fox eco-adventure located in the forest atop the Skyline Gondola, is now open to Conference and Incentive (C&I) groups.

Managing Director Trent Yeo says the team has been keen to enter the C&I market since Ziptrek was launched in December 2009 and now everything is in place to move forward.

“Ziptrek is perfect for C&I groups,” he says. “It’s a fun, unique way of experiencing Queenstown, the views are absolutely spectacular, and because we’re so close to the centre of town and a tour only takes two hours, it can be easily built into any itinerary.

“Zipping is a real buzz – it’s adrenaline-fuelled but not too scary which is great for diverse groups of people.

“We can also reduce or extend tours as well as tailor them to suit each group’s needs and our architecturally designed treehuts are a great place to conduct team-building exercises, theme up or present information.”

Ziptrek is inviting local, national and international conference and incentive organisers to test the product before recommending it to groups.

Queenstown-based company Exclusive Events is one of several to have already taken Ziptrek up on its offer, and General Manager Liam Taylor says he and his team were “completely sold” on it.

“It was a huge blast, a great new activity for Queenstown,” he says.

“Ziptrek combines so many elements, from the thrill of flying through the air and the stunning views to the ecological message you get at various treetop platform landings. This is a brilliant activity in its own right and will combine well with other activities on Bob's Peak.

“It’s an absolute no brainer for New Zealand’s C&I market. We’ve already started working with Ziptrek to develop some innovative team building programmes.”

Ziptrek’s move into the C&I market has also been welcomed by the Queenstown Convention Bureau (QCB), a division of Destination Queenstown.

QCB Manager Kylie Brittain says Ziptrek is a fantastic addition to Queenstown’s already strong C&I offering.

“Queenstown is perceived as an exciting destination that delivers good value and we’re always looking for new ways to inspire people to bring their group business to Queenstown. Ziptrek is just the ticket.”
