Sand sculptures for Himatangi Beach
NO bulldozers or mechanical diggers are to be used by entrants in the Himatangi Beach Community Trust’s 2010 sand sculpturing competition on Saturday, April 10.
Buckets, spades and shovels are the more acceptable tools required if sculptors want to catch the judge’s attention with their creative masterpieces.
The competition is the second of its type run by the trust, with organisers hoping the support for last year’s event - when a few hundred people worked feverishly at 50 sites - is matched or bettered.
Entry cost is $2 a person with registrations at the beach on the day. Funds raised will go towards future projects within the community.
Sculptors will be working on a section of beach on the Tangimoana side of the Kaikokopu Stream from 10am, with judging by Feilding artist, Eric Brew, to start at 1pm.
Local and district businesses are donating prizes.
