Extraordinarily helpful and dedicated residents live throughout New Plymouth District – and we would like to recognise them with a Citizens’ Award.

Nominations have opened for the Citizens’ Awards 2010 – so be sure to nominate your neighbour, colleague, friend or acquaintance who deserves to be congratulated for their efforts in helping the community.

“Often these are people who prefer to not be in the spotlight, but who are champions in our community because of their years of work behind the scenes,” says Acting Manager Community Development Mary-Anne Priest.

“We’re also looking for people who have done an exceptional action – a single act of bravery or significant effort that benefited the people or the community around them.

“These people deserve to be recognised for the great contributions they make to our district.”

People who have received royal or national honours for their service or actions are also eligible to be considered for a Citizens’ Award.

Up to 12 Citizens’ Awards are presented every year, with this year’s ceremony being held 22 July.

Nomination forms are available from all council offices and on this website. Nominations close 30 April.
