Travel Assistance For Rural Sports Teams
Assistance is now available for rural sports club and rural schools seeking help with transport costs to get sports teams to and from local competitions this winter.
The SPARC Rural Travel Fund is targeted at teams with players aged between five and 19 years and is designed to ensure young sportspeople in rural areas are not discouraged from participating in competitions or events because of travel costs.
The travel grants are available for local sports events or competitions at weekends or outside normal school hours, but exclude representative fixtures or national events.
For the new winter season SPARC has made available a total of $19,000 across the Far North.
The funding is administered on behalf of SPARC by the Far North District Council's three community boards. Applications for funding assistance to the Western Community Board close on 23 April, to the Northern Community Board on 28 April and to the Eastern Community Board on 12 May
