The BLACKCAPS depart for Brisbane this Sunday for a week-long training camp in preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup, which starts in the West Indies at the end of the month.

BLACKCAPS Manager Dave Currie said the Brisbane training camp will include the 11 of the 15 man squad announced in March, plus three of the non-traveling reserve squad.

“The camp is a way to fine-tune the squad and make sure that players are in the best physical and mental state possible before we get to the tournament,” said Currie. “We will be looking to re-create realistic game scenarios throughout the week, and putting the type pressure on players which reflects situations they might face during the World Cup.

“At this stage everyone is fit and well. There are a number of guys returning to the team from injury and these players will continue to progress on their personal fitness plans and pass their individual milestones during the week.”

The BLACKCAPS depart for Georgetown, Guyana, from Brisbane on Saturday 24 April. They play two warm up matches, against Ireland on April 27 and against the West Indies on 28 April.

The first tournament match is against Sri Lanka on 30 April then Zimbabwe on 4 May. The team then flies to Bridgetown, Barbados where it will play either South Africa or Afghanistan on 6 May, then either Pakistan or Australia on 8 May. The next game against either England or Ireland will take place at Gros Islet, St Lucia
On 10 May.
