HOT team support Leukaemia & Blood Foundation

Seven House of Travel team members – including three women - have shown their support for the Leukaemia and Blood Foundation by shaving their heads as part of the fundraising ‘Shave for a Cure’ campaign.

Shave for a Cure is the Leukaemia and Blood Foundation’s signature fundraising event. It provided a fun and easy way for House of Travel to raise funds to support New Zealand patients and their families living with leukaemia, lymphoma or related blood cancers.

House of Travel Public Relations Manager Jo Wedlock says the team were keen to get behind a charity that does such great work and touches so many lives.

“Some of the team at House of Travel have had their lives affected by blood cancers so we wanted to do something that raised money to support this great cause” she said.

Not many people know about the Leukaemia and Blood Foundation, but they provide patient support services which cost over $1000 each day, fund vital research, act as patient advocates and educate people about the disease.

Leukaemia and Blood Foundation executive director Pru Etcheverry said “Shaving is a bold but simple way of supporting those living with leukaemia, lymphoma and other related blood conditions, many of whom lose their hair as a result of treatment.

We love the way House of Travel are getting involved with Shave for a Cure and taking part in this mass expression of empathy and solidarity for the 10,000 New Zealanders currently living with a blood cancer in New Zealand.”
