Hamilton bellbird release delayed

Radio stations are being asked to broadcast the fact that the scheduled release of bellbirds in the Hamilton Gardens has been postponed till a later date.

The release had been due to go ahead at 8am tomorrow Sunday 9 May. But health checks on the birds to come to Hamilton have identified issues that will need to be addressed before they can be released.

Many people have indicated they want to attend the bellbird release so media are asked to broadcast the fact that the event has been postponed to avoid people turning up early tomorrow and being disappointed.

Advice on when the rescheduled release will go ahead will be issued during next week. It is hoped the event will be able to be held next weekend once the health issues are addressed.
