Daniel Lord, finished 28th out of 30 finishers in the junior men’s 10km recording 51m 24s. Eider Arevalo of Columbia won in 42m 13s.

Swathmore Last Chance, Pennnsylvania – 10 May 2010: 1500m; Carl Mackenzie 1st 3m 41.99s, Dominic Channon 2nd 3m 42.25s, Julian Matthews 4th 3m 43.95s, Mathew Mildenhall 7th 3m 44.56s.
Cascade Conference Collegiate, Gresham Oregon – 14 May 2010: 1500m; Alice Taylor 1st in meet record of 4m 32.74s.
Georgia Tech Invitational, Griffin Track Atlanta – 14 May 2010: 100m preliminaries David Ambler 10.49s (+0.7) q, but did not compete in the final.
Big Ten Conference, Billy Hayes Track Bloomington Indiana – 14 May 2010: 10,000m; Caden Shields 16th 30m 13.36s. 15 May 2010: Alice Feslier-Holmes qualified for the final of the 1500m with her time of 4m 26.87s in the preliminaries; in the final she was 12th in 4m 31.66s. Simon Rogers was 5th in heat 2 1500m 3m 49.01s DNQ, Brendon Blacklaws was 7th in heat 2 1500m 3m 52.36s DNQ. Dallas Bowden was 17th in the preliminaries of the 800m 1m 52.01s DNQ.
ECAC Championships, Princeton New Jersey – 14 May 2010: 5000m; Hugo Beamish 4th 14m 5.69s, Tim Hodge 11th 14m 16.93s. 15 May 2010: Dominic Channon 2nd Heat 4 1500m 3m 47.56s Q. Lucy van Dalen 2nd Heat 2 800m 2m 7.53s DNQ. Laura Sinclair 7th heat 1 1500m 4m 31.95s DNQ. 16 May 2010: Dominic Channon 6th 1500m final 3m 50.62s, Holly van Dalen 1st 3000m 9m 20.45s.

AUSTRALIA
Great Ocean Road marathon Festival – 15 May 2010
Jason Woolhouse won the associated 14km road race from Apollo Bay to Paradise and return in a race record time of 41m 38s. This broke Steve Moneghetti’s 2006 race record by 13 seconds. Woolhouse also won last year in 42m 18s.

AUCKLAND
HEB Cross Country, Pukekohe – 15 May
Stephen Lett made it two years in a row in winning the annual HEB cross country event staged around the A and P showgrounds on Saturday.
Lett held back early in the race, moved through in the middle stages and swept though over the final lap to pass Alex Parlane who had built up a handy lead going into the last circuit.
His winning time for the 7.5km was 27m 30s, about a minute slower than his time last year. Parlane finished in 27m 36s with Michael Banks third in 27m 49s.
Annie Keown was a surprise winner of the women’s 5km in 20m 20s, 32 seconds ahead of 2008 W19 winner Rachael Kingstone. Elizabeth Orchard was third in 20m 56s.
The self coached runner leaves in August for an American athletic scholarship at Stony Brook University in New York.
For the fourth year in a row Jonathan Jackson has won at Pukekohe. Jackson won the M19 5km for the third year recording 17m 21s. In 2007 he won the M16 race.

WAIKATO BAY OF PLENTY
Sharp Cross Country, Paeroa – 15 May
Demelza Murrihy-Topp won the women’s 5km in 19m 11s. Anna-Lisa Uttley W19 was second in 19m 43s with Melissa Murrihy third in 22m 8s. Kent Hodgson won the men’s 7km in 27m 37s.

NEW PLYMOUTH
Brenda Ballinger Memorial 4km cross country race – 15 May 2010
Anne Hare repeated her win of last year in the memorial race around the St Joseph’s/Devon Intermediate School grounds. Hare covered the 2 x 2km circuit in wet conditions in 15m 45s. Her time last year was 15m 11s. Hare also won in 2005 and 2006. Renee Graham ran 14m 31s to win in 2008.

CHRISTCHURCH
Jane Paterson Cross Country, Rawhiti Domain – 15 May
Phil Costley won the 9km race in 27m 36s, beating Carsten Joergensen by nearly a minute. Sarah McSweeney won the women’s 6km in 20m 27s, with Fiona Gilroy second in 21m 3s. Angela Smit won the W19 4km in 13m 8s.

DUNEDIN
Leith Cross Country Relays, Ponydales – 15 May
Caversham won the men’s 4 x 2.8km relay in 37m 11s beating Ariki by 11 seconds. Daniel Balchin ran the fastest lap in 8m 56s, Steve O’Callaghan was second fastest in 9m with Dougal Thorburn on 9m 4s.
Otago University won the women’s 4 x 2km relay in 31m 23s with Hill City second in 31m 51s. Hannah Newbould was the fastest around the 2km circuit in 7m 26s, Rebekah Greene was timed at 7m 34s and Rachel Kingsford 7m 42s.

SOUTHLAND
Shaun Burgess (St Paul's) won Sunday's Gore Half Marathon in 1h 13m 8s, heading in Ricky Gutsell (Gore) who ran 1h 15m 59s to be first master in. Graham Sinnamon took third in a sprint finish in 1h 21m 2s, two seconds ahead of Brendan Forde.
Matthew Gare (St Paul's) was first in the M19 (1h 28m 43s) and Tanya Dromgool of Queenstown was first woman with 1h 35m 05s.
Highlights from the Southland Secondary School cross-country champs last week were the course records set by Meg Adamson (SGHS) in winning the U13 girls 2km and international triathlete Aaron Barclay (Gore) who broke Glen Ballam's best time set last year in the senior boy's 6km. The previous weekend saw Barry Ledington (St Paul's) taking first place and fastest time in the first of the five-race handicap series, an 8.3km cross-country at Invercargill's Donovan Park.
