Rotorua District Council today (Tuesday 18 May) starts the second of four days of hearings related to the draft Annual Plan, draft Waste Management & Minimisation Plan, and draft Air Quality Control Bylaw.

The council received 3754 submissions on these issues during the recent community consultation phase with recycling being the most addressed topic of interest.

Ninety nine submitters have opted to speak directly to Mayor Kevin Winters and councillors about their submissions, during hearings this week at the RDC Civic Centre. The hearings are open to the public.

Following this week's hearings the council will hold meetings from June 8 – 10 to consider all submissions and to develop positions on each of the draft proposals.

The final 2010/11 Annual Plan, waste plan, and air quality bylaw will be formally adopted at a special council meeting on 29 June.
