Two hard working Auckland office heroes have received a bouquet of flowers and a much deserved day off work in celebration of the recent Drake Office Heroes competition.

Sylvia Jackson from CCH New Zealand and Una Neville from Orica Chemnet were jointly awarded the title of Auckland Office Hero after being nominated by their bosses.

Sylvia Jackson, who holds the unofficial title of Chief Morale Officer at CCH New Zealand, was nominated by her boss Liz Stephens for being a true team player who “always looks for better ways to do things, while improving the bottom line.”

Una Neville’s boss Karen Rand said Una is known around the office as Orica’s CEO of Entertainment. “She tirelessly goes out of her way to help people, and always has a smile on her face,” she said.

Gay Barton, General Manager of Drake, said the idea of the Drake Office Heroes competition is to reward the hard work done by secretaries, administrators, assistants and receptionists which can sometimes go unrecognised. It was also a way for Drake to actively support Administrative Professionals’ Day 2010 (held last month).

“We were overwhelmed by the sheer number of entries we received from grateful employers who took this opportunity to let their people know how much they really appreciate their hard work,” said Ms Barton.

The most deserving heroes from Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Palmerston North, Wellington and Christchurch each won a well-deserved day off, with Drake giving them a bouquet of flowers and providing the boss with a skilled temporary worker for the day, free of charge.
