QUEENSTOWN

One of New Zealand’s most celebrated chefs is set to send food lovers ‘wild’ with delight at this year’s American Express Queenstown Winter Festival.

The hugely successful ‘Millbrook and Brown’ show will return with an afternoon of gastronomic delights featuring a live cooking demonstration from renowned Kiwi chef Al Brown, who together with Steve Logan, owns the acclaimed Logan Brown restaurant in Wellington.

Back by popular demand after a previously twice sold-out show, Al will be starring on Monday 28 June from 12 noon at Millbrook Resort’s award-winning Clubhouse Restaurant for an encore performance.

Guests at ‘Millbrook and Brown’ will be treated to an afternoon filled with Al’s charming, witty and sometimes downright rude banter, top kitchen secrets and a four-course tasting menu superbly matched with Gibbston Valley wines.

With his unique and personable style, Al’s demonstrations have been described by previous attendees as an “absolute delight” and a festival highlight. Al, who is passionate about wild game and local seasonal produce, will present a menu that includes citrus-cured salmon gravlax with fresh wasabi panacotta, paua steak with cream of fennel and salsa verde, duck confit with kumara fondant, lentils and caramelised apple, finished off with a divine sticky date steam pudding with almond brittle semi-freddo.

Al’s individual and entertaining personality has won him great success and a huge following, particularly in his role on TVNZ’s Hunger for the Wild programme.

“It’s a real pleasure to be invited back to Millbrook and the 2010 festival,” he said.

“I’ve had a brilliant time over the last two years and I’m delighted to do it all again with another bunch of enthusiastic foodies. So if a leisurely afternoon by the fire eating terrific food washed down with exceptional wines appeals to your senses then come and join me at Millbrook.”

Tickets for this extraordinary event are $129 and can be purchased online at www.winterfestival.co.nz or by phoning 0800 FESTIVAL.

The American Express Queenstown Winter Festival is being held from 25 June to 4 July 2010, celebrating 36 years of winter fun with 10 days of totally outrageous and uniquely Queenstown events.

More about Millbrook
Set in a natural, alpine amphitheatre against a backdrop of snow-capped mountain ranges on the outskirts of world-renowned tourism destination Queenstown, Millbrook was formerly a wheat farm with a 150-year history. It’s retained many heritage features including the original Millhouse, rustic buildings and a majestic avenue of trees.

Millbrook’s numerous neighbourhoods range from Butel Villas to 2, 3 and 4 bedroom cottages and luxurious Fairway Homes.

Nearby you can enjoy the gold rush era village of Arrowtown with its many restaurants, museums and shops. Queenstown’s attractions include a wide range of activities, wineries, easy access to five ski areas, great nightlife and award-winning restaurants and bars.
