Auckland Airport announces three senior appointments
Auckland International Airport Limited has made a number of senior appointments in the areas of Communications, People and Performance and Information Technology and Telecommunications.
“Auckland Airport is committed to growing New Zealand tourism and business, providing a unique and compelling New Zealand airport experience, delivering outstanding customer service, operating in a safe, secure, sustainable and efficient manner, enhancing our people capability and performance and creating long-term value for our owners”, said chief executive Don Huse.
“The appointments to our senior management executive announced today are very much aligned to successfully delivering on these strategies”, Mr Huse said.
Head of communications
Lucy Powell has been appointed head of communications. Lucy joined the company in a contracting role in November 2006. Previously she was communications manager – the Americas for Air New Zealand, based in Los Angeles. She has held a number of positions with Tourism New Zealand, as well as a variety of other roles in communications, marketing, travel and tourism in New Zealand and abroad.
Lucy’s role is to develop and implement AIAL’s communications strategy. She will oversee key stakeholder relationships in the corporate and marketing communications areas, as well as media and community relations, internal communications, issues management and crisis communications, events, sponsorships, government relations and investor relations.
“After seven years in the United States working for Air New Zealand and Tourism New Zealand, Lucy brings a wealth of experience in communications, tourism, marketing and aviation to Auckland Airport”, said Mr Huse.
Lucy has a law degree, bachelor of arts in psychology and a post graduate diploma in business (marketing) from the University of Auckland.
General manager people and performance
Judy Nicholl has been appointed general manager people and performance. Judy joined AIAL in 2006. She has led and managed strategic human resources within several industry groups – primary processing, travel and tourism, education and New Zealand Police.
“Her role is to ensure continuous performance improvement as a contribution to business growth. This includes the development of strategies that ensure AIAL achieves its people and business goals, and to enhance AIAL’s reputation as a quality employer,” said Mr Huse.
Judy holds a conjoint masters degree in educational leadership and business administration from the University of Auckland and a bachelor of education from Waikato University.
Chief information officer
Tony Wickstead has been appointed to the newly created position of chief information officer (CIO). Tony joined Auckland Airport as head of information technology and telecommunications in 2005. He has more than 10 years’ experience in executive roles within the technology industry in Australia and New Zealand. This has included business strategy development and business planning, development of information technology strategy, change management, and implementation of financial management and enterprise resource planning solutions.
Tony’s role is to develop and implement AIAL’s long-term strategy for information technology and telecommunications (IT&T), also taking into account the requirements of its diverse group of customers on the airport.
“AIAL is taking a technology and thought leadership role in the delivery of information technology and telecommunications solutions for its airport partners. This includes updating the IT&T strategic plan to ensure that it aligns with AIAL’s new vision and strategy, and long-term masterplan”, said Mr Huse.
Tony has post graduate diplomas in marketing and operations from the University of Auckland.
