New Plymouth Airport’s toilets are to have a temporary indoor-outdoor system over the coming six weeks.

Major renovations of both the men’s and women’s toilets will see men using a Portacom outside the terminal during the six-week construction, while women will use the available indoor facilities.

The project starts on Monday (21 June).

“These toilets date from when the terminal opened in 1967 and are due for refurbishment as some spare parts and fittings are no longer available,” says Manager Airport Kevin Hill.

“They will be modernised with new fixtures such as no-touch sensor taps, new surfaces and a brighter appearance.

“When the renovation of the men’s toilets has been completed we’ll have the women use them while the women’s facilities are being worked on. Our male visitors will have access to an outdoor Portacom the entire time,” he says.
