Say thanks to the hard working people volunteering in sport in our local community by nominating them for the 2010 Grassroots Sports Awards.

Nominations are now being called for the 2010 Sport Manawatu Grassroots Sports Awards.

“The awards encompass both the Sports Clubs and the SPARC Volunteer Coach of the Year awards, so whether your sports club has shown exceptional, management, planning or leadership or if you think your coach deserves recognition for all of time and effort they have put in – now is the time to recognise them!” says sport development manager, Sean O’Connor.

The SPARC Volunteer Coach Awards are open to all non-paid, volunteer coaches including club coaches, school coaches and anyone coaching at a non-representative level within the Sport Manawatu region (Manawatu, Horowhenua and Tararua). Award winners win a generous supply of Watties products, coaching apparel from SPARC, and one regional award winner also receives a coach development opportunity from SPARC.

The Sports Clubs of the Year Awards include categories in marketing, event management, player and volunteer development and several others. All sports clubs within the Sport Manawatu region are eligible to be nominated.

“We run the Sports Clubs of the Year Awards to give clubs the chance to be celebrated for their operational performance and the service they provide to the community, as well as honouring the hard working club volunteers,” says Mr O’Connor.

Sports clubs nominations close on August 13 and coaches on September 8.
