Leading New Zealand artists will join forces at a gala event on Friday to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation.

On July 2, the NZ Art Guild will unveil their 2010 collaborative project which is 64 artworks created by 62 NZ artists at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna.

Once combined the individual pieces will create a stunning artwork measuring 1.3m x 1.3m that will then be auctioned on Trade Me with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to the Mental Health Foundation.

The guild will also put 12 sought-after artworks by some of New Zealand’s top artists under the hammer with proceeds also going to the foundation. See: www.nzartguild.co.nz/Emerge-Exhibition.html

Mental Health Foundation chief executive Judi Clements said they relied heavily on donations to help provide resources and support for New Zealanders affected by mental health issues.

Last year the guild made $7000 and they hope to top $10,000 this year, organiser Sophia Elise said today. Proceeds will go to the foundation’s resource and information centre.

High profile artists taking part include Angela Laby, Gail Boyle, Sally Blyth, Theresa Rodger Nancy Frazer, Tony Brown, Donna Massey and Ron Esplin.
