City Council appoints new Director of Works and Services
The Invercargill City Council has appointed Cameron McIntosh as its new Director of Works and Services, Chief Executive Officer Richard King announced today.
Mr McIntosh, who was raised and school locally, is currently employed by the Southland District Council as the Group Manager Services and Assets, responsible for an annual budget of $40 million and infrastructure assets of $1.4 billion.
He also currently holds positions of Chief Executive of Manapouri Airport, a Director of the Southern Rural Fire Authority and a Civil Defence Controller.
A former student of James Hargest High School, Mr McIntosh is a graduate of Biotechnology and Bio Process Engineering from Massey University.
Prior to the Southland District Council, he held a number of senior positions with the Alliance Group, Invercargill. He also has experience working in the meat industry in the United Kingdom and as a consultant for water treatment in Palmerston North.
Married with two young children, Mr McIntosh says he is looking forward to further developing his skills in an urban environment.
In announcing his appointment, Mr King said that Mr McIntosh steps into one of Council’s most important and influential roles, replacing long-serving Works and Services Director Alan Ballinger who retires from Council this month after 37 years’ service.
“Cameron is well equipped in terms of his qualifications and experience to manage Invercargill’s key infrastructure and assets and guide us with their development for the future. We are delighted to welcome him to Council,” Mr King said.
