Taupo District Council will undertake a webcast of their next Council meeting on 20 July as part of their new initiative to provide greater access to the Council decision making process and promote openness and transparency.

There has been interest from Councils all around the country with many of them contacting the Mayor for more information. Deputy CEO Anne McLeod says, “given the unprecedented interest in the webcast we are looking forward to the initial trial next week and have done our homework to make sure it runs as smoothly as possible.”

She says the meeting will begin at 1pm and anyone wanting to watch can gain access via a link from the Council website www.taupo.govt.nz “If it goes well then we will work with providers Enlighten Designs to finalise the design of the webpage and prepare the site to provide ‘on demand’ archived sessions as well live streaming in time for future Council meetings.
