Tomorrow will be a decisive day at the Camper MedCup regatta at Barcelona.

Only one point separates first and second – Artemis and Emirates Team New Zealand - and Quantum is third overall just six points back.

Artemis had a particularly good day on the fourth day of racing, with two wins and a fifth. Emirates Team New Zealand was not as fortunate with two fifths and a third. It was enough to give Artemis a one point lead and set up a showdown for the final day.

Skipper Dean Barker said: “It was not a good day by our standards but it does set up a final day that will be remembered .... only one point between Artemis and us, six points to Quantum. There’s plenty to fight for.”

Today the breeze was light with a lumpy and uncomfortable seaway. The breeze was shifty, testing crew work and tactics.

Barker said: “Artemis sailed really well today, showing the potential that had previously eluded them. Quantum, after a bad first race with a 9th, came back with two good seconds.

“Tomorrow we will have a target, Artemis, just in front and we will be looking over our shoulder at Quantum. We need a good solid day.”

The breeze forecast for tomorrow is 11-18 knots but like today, it will be shifty. In the conditions, there’s still potential for an upset. Two races are scheduled.
