August 31 New Penalty Deadline For Dogs

An extended deadline for dog registration has given owners another month’s grace in which to pay.
They now have until August 31.

The unexpected change has caused some confusion among dog owners.

Forms that had been expected in time for payment by July 31 – the due date – had in fact been posted at the end of the month. The council acknowledges that ratepayers will appreciate the deferral of this penalty date.
Manager Environmental Services, Mike Brown notes the requirement to register dogs has not changed, it is only the date at which penalties are imposed that has been shifted out.
