Gold Medal World Record For Paralympic Swimmer

Paralympics New Zealand swimmer, Sophie Pascoe from Canterbury has won a gold medal and broken the world record in the 100m butterfly at the 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands in the first day of competition.

Pascoe, 17 finished the race in a time of 1m08.06 seconds, a full second ahead of the second placed swimmer, Elodie Lorandi of France (1m09.09s) with American Anna Eames third in a time of 1m10.52s.
The IPC Swimming World Championships run from 15-21 August. New Zealand has a five-person team competing at the event.
