Wipiiti out of first test with injury

Silver Ferns goal shoot Daneka Wipiiti has been ruled out of the first test against Jamaica in the New World International Netball Series with a calf strain.

Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken said they would not risk further injury to the Silver Ferns shooter at this stage of the team’s preparation prior to the Commonwealth Games.

“The decision is based on the advice of our medical staff who will be monitoring her progress and Daneka will complete a further medical assessment on Thursday morning to determine her availability for the 2nd test,” Aitken said.

Silver Fern squad member Anna Thompson has been named as the replacement player for this match.
