The popular Contact Tri Series is confirmed for another summer with entries open online at www.triseries.co.nz from today (Wednesday 18th August), with the highlights being the addition of a new event in Christchurch (January 30) and two new sprint race options at Rotorua and Whangamata.

Tri NZ Event Manager Haidee Stratford says the series continues to evolve.

“We have looked at feedback from last year and continued to make changes to best suit our participants and to further grow the sport. The new race in Christchurch will be stunning at the new Pegasus development with a venue tailor made for a safe and easy triathlon and yet still attract the more experienced competitors to a great venue. It also follows on from the Timaru Club event the week before so offers a great double header for South Island participants or those travelling from further afield during holidays.

“We have also listened to those taking part and added two more sprint races to further encourage newcomers but also to help begin the season. Rotorua in November and Whangamata in the New Year will now offer sprint events for those looking for a slightly easier introduction to summer while still hosting standard distance events for the more experienced.”

The popular children’s Contact 1:2:1 events return at 4 of the 7 venues and the beginner Contact 3:9:3 option is available at all 7 events during the summer, further encouraging people of all backgrounds into the sport, perhaps for the first time while for some it is an easily achieved distance each summer.

The Contact Series now has a dedicated website with all information and online entry available at www.triseries.co.nz. Stratford encourages early entry to all events, in particular Kinloch and Takapuna.

“We have limited capacity at most venues but especially Kinloch and Takapuna which will both sell out putting a premium on planning ahead and entering now to avoid disappointment. The Contact Tri Series is all about participation and safety is a huge focus for us, hence the need to manage numbers carefully and deliver a fantastic triathlon experience for all who take part.”
