The nomination tally stands at (please see attached list for candidates’ names):

14 nominations for Mayor

Nominations opened on 23 July. While nominations initially came in slowly, Electoral Officer Clare Sullivan says she is pleased with the level of interest in this year’s election.

In 2007, there were 147 nominations in total, including 10 for Mayor, 49 councillor nominations and 88 for community boards.

There a total of 54 positions available in the upcoming election. These include the Mayor; 13 councillor positions and 40 positions on community boards.

Voting papers for the 2010 election will be sent out from 17 September 2010 and must be returned in the freepost envelope provided by Wednesday 6 October 2010.

“Now we would encourage everyone who is eligible to vote to do so in the upcoming elections,” Ms Sullivan says.
