ITALY

IAAF World Challenge Meeting, Rieti – 29 August 2010

Adrian Blincoe was ninth in the 3000m in a personal best 7m 46.38s. His previous best was 7m 46.49s in Zagreb in July 2005.

The race was won by Tariku Bekele of Ethiopia in 7m 28.70s from Bernard Lagat USA 7m 29.00s and Edwin Cheruiyot Soi of Kenya 7m 29.75s.

John Walker holds the New Zealand national record of 7m 37.49s set in London in 1982.

 

POLAND

World Masters Mountain Running Championships, Korbielow – 28 August 2010

8km race, ascending 960m, descending 25m. 

Patrick Meffan won a BRONZE medal, with his third placing in the M50 in 49m 43s. Colin Earwaker was sixth in the M50 in 50m 13s.

Cliff Bowman was eighth in the M45 in 48m 35s.

 

BRAZIL

Corrida Vertical Brazil 2010, Sao Paulo – 29 August 2010

Melissa Moon won the short stair climb race by 16 seconds in 4m 51s.

 

FRANCE

Meeting De Lille Metropole, Lille – 24 August 2010

Nikki Hamblin was second in the 800m in 2m 1.42s. Won by Elena Kofanova of Russia in 1m 58.83s.

 

WHANGAREI

Annual Onerahi Relays – 28 August 2010

Whangarei won the senior men and women and the junior relay. Ian Calder, training for the Whangarei Marathon ran the fastest 6km lap in 20m 49s.

 

TIMARU

Round the Gorges Relay – 28 August 2010

New Brighton team of Nick Burrow, Leyton Tremain, Simon Ralph, Kerry Faass, Kelvin Rowe, Andrew Turpin, Nigel Whalley and Marc Ypelaar won the annual relay covering the 65.2km in 4h 13m 11s. Christchurch Avon was second in 4h 23m 2s with Timaru third in 4h 23m 20s. Lap records were set by Kerry Faass (New Brighton) on lap four master men record of 35m 4s for the 10.8km breaking Kerry Rodger's 2007 record of 35m 21s, Anthony Rogal (Chch Avon) on lap three master men 50 record of 27m 24s for the 7km breaking Tony Good's 2005 record of 28m 48s, Sam Wreford (Cant Univ) on lap eight senior men record of 27m 29s for the 9.3km breaking Sam Dobson's 2007 record of 27m 42s, Lisa Rush (Waimate Toc H) on lap three junior women record of 30m 19s for the 7km breaking E Oliver's 1991 record of 31m 28s.
