News that New Plymouth and Hawera are among the cities being considered for early ultra-fast broadband is great for the region, says Mayor Peter Tennent.

Crown Fibre Holdings has selected three parties for prioritised negotiations, one being the Central North Island Fibre Consortium: Hamilton, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Hawera, Whanganui and Tokoroa.

“It’s magnificent news for Taranaki,” says Mayor Pete. “We’re talking world-class ultra-fast broadband for businesses and organisations that will help them grow and prosper.

“We’re a region of innovators and hard workers, and locals would develop significant opportunities through the use of ultra-fast broadband.

“I congratulate everyone who has been involved in getting our bid to this stage and I know they’ll be doing everything they can to get a confirmed agreement with the Government,” he says.
