Finding exciting things to do over the school holidays is easy. Hutt City Council’s Kids Fest is back with two weeks of fun activities and games from 27 September to 8 October.

Duncan Chisholm, council’s recreation and events manager wants to remind parents there’s lots for kids to do over the holidays. “We have a full spectrum of activities, from getting hands on with ceramics to being a fire fighter and sports to something theatrical.”

Creative kids can get great hands on and paint their own ceramics, make their own badges or key rings, make sculptures or get their hair and make-up done up like a fairy or monster.

Kids who are into sports and games can try aerobic exercise, a gym camp or a free introduction to squash and cycling fun. Council’s holiday programmes also include Zumba, judo, laser force, mini putt, dodgeball, basketball and more.

It doesn’t stop there; there are also activities for the inquisitive and theatrical. Sign up for beautician and puppetry workshops as well as fire fighting sessions. Kids can even venture into the world of fashion, Vikings and dragons at the library.

There’s also a colouring-in competition with the chance to win a $50 Westfield shopping voucher. Parents also have the chance to win a $200 shopping voucher by simply completing an online survey and telling us what they thought of the activities.

The Kids Fest booklet is distributed to all Lower Hutt primary schools. Pick up a copy from any Hutt City pool, library and i-SITE or visit www.thehuttscene.co.nz.
