Emirates Team New Zealand update - Day 4 racing abandoned

Racing was abandoned on Day 4 of the Audi MedCup Cagliari regatta in the face of a light and very shifty breeze.

There was a lot of rain, but very little breeze just as the forecasters had predicted. The breeze never got up above 7 knots and what breeze there was oscillated through 180 degrees.

The race committee spent the day on the water waiting in a vain for an opportunity to lay a fair course.
Principal race officer María Torrijo believes Saturday, the final day of the Region of Sardinia Trophy regatta, will be better.

"Today the wind hasn't really picked up. We've registered 180 degrees shifts in a very short period of time and that's made us take the decision not to race.

“Tomorrow's forecast has improved and it seems we'll have between 15 and 20 knots."
The planned start time for Saturday has been moved forward to noon in an effort to get three races away.
