After making its way around the globe, Casio is excited to announce the G-Shock SHOCK THE WORLD tour is touching down in New Zealand. On October 21st the worlds of media, technology, fashion and music will descend on Auckland in a celebration of the iconic Casio G-Shock brand.

SHOCK THE WORLD began in 2008 to celebrate G-Shock’s 25th anniversary and has snowballed into a world tour that has sent shock waves through more than 12 cities globally with performances from Kanye West and Ke$ha in New York, Pixie Lott in London and Lady Sovereign in Berlin. Shock The World is always one of the most anticipated street culture events and now it’s time to turn it on in Auckland.

SHOCK THE WORLD is renowned for hosting the biggest names on the planet and the Auckland event will see US hip hop producer and DJ Just Blaze in attendance playing a set for the first time in New Zealand. Having worked with almost every heavyweight in the US hip-hop fraternity, Just Blaze is best known for his work with Jay-Z, Kanye West, The Game and Eminem. He’ll be joined by local band-de-jour Computers Want Me Dead and Casio G-Shock ambassador, David Dallas.

SHOCK THE WORLD Auckland will see a local space transformed into an inspiring showcase of the latest Casio G-Shock timepieces, plus limited edition and collaborative pieces as well as the original G-Shock watch, first designed in 1983. Local musicians and artists will showcase their talent alongside special guests including the “Father of G-Shock,” Kikuo Ibe, who created the legendary “shock-resistant” timepiece. Mr Ibe has been with the company for 34 years and has been instrumental in the commercial success of the brand.

G-Shock boasts an international who’s-who of collaborators and ambassadors including Wu-Tang Clan’s Redman, New York bloggers Dee & Ricky and LA Laker Lamar Odom, so it’s no surprise the iconic brand is collaborating with some of New Zealand’s finest talent. Huffer and QUBIC store will each create a unique G-Shock timepiece while street artist & designer, Misery will join forces with Baby G who in turn, has just signed up pop songstress Ke$ha as its latest ambassador. The local series of limited edition G-Shock watches will be unveiled at SHOCK THE WORLD Auckland.

“It’s exciting for an event like this to make it to New Zealand. We have so many amazing artists and musicians in New Zealand and Shock the World can put their talents on show in a unique way for the world to see. It is also a great opportunity to meet Mr Kikuo Ibe, the inventor of G-Shock, and view rare G-Shock models normally reserved for collectors eyes only,” says Harley Anderson, Product Manager – Casio Timepiece.
