Brazilian musicians Maria José Carrasqueira (piano) and Antonio Carrasqueira (flute) have arrived in New Zealand to present a concert in Christchurch on Wednesday 6 October.

They will be performing at The Music Centre, 140 Barbadoes Street from 6pm.

Although they have performed in several countries in Europe, Latin America and the United States, this is their first visit to Oceania. Renowned performers and professors, siblings Carrasqueira have received several awards and recorded many CDs. They will perform a delightful programme comprised of a Latin American repertoire, featuring pieces from composers from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba and Peru.

Their tour in New Zealand is being sponsored by the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations, as part of the Embassy’s Cultural Programme for 2010.

Whilst the performance is free, however to support the victims of the Christchurch earthquake the Embassy will be placing a donation box at the venue.
