Peter Tennent’s last day as Mayor will be spent with New Plymouth District’s oldest residents.

About 60 people who are 95 or older – including one who is 101 – will be attending a Mayoral tea party at the Civic Centre at 2.30pm on Friday (8 October).

The tea party is part of a week of events to mark International Day of the Older Person.

Mayor Pete says he can’t think of a better way to spend the last day of his Mayoralty than with people who have given so much to the district.

“These are the folk who have seen so much, experienced so much in their lives, and who more than anyone else have contributed to making Taranaki the great place it is.

“It will be an honour to see out my Mayoralty by spending some time with them.”
