A panel of three independent planning commissioners has granted a resource consent for the redevelopment of Eden Park.

The panel of commissioners reached their decision following an 11-day hearing last year at which they considered:

the consent application
evidence from subject-matter experts
more than 500 submissions.
The commissioners have granted consent for the original redevelopment design, which excludes the redesign of the West Stand.

There are 91 conditions attached to the resource consent in a 97-page report.

Conditions include:

construction management, including restrictions on hours, access, noise and lighting
requirement for landscaping, including streetscape planting in adjoining roads
provision of increased access to open space within the site
restrictions on the number and type of night time sporting events
shading mitigation measures, including specific mitigation packages for affected properties
noise restrictions for events and during construction
requirements for traffic management, including pedestrian access to Kingsland Rail Station
reducing the height of the South and East Stands by 5.2 and 9.6 metres respectively in accordance with the "full option" plans
Eden Park lodged a resource consent to redevelop its West Stand in late December 2006 and this is currently being processed.
