Tararua’s three newly elected councillors, Brenda Dodunski, Shirley Hull and Peter Johns are looking forward to their new role and the challenges of local government.

Mrs Dodunski has a background in administration and business in the health, real estate and retail sectors and is involved in community work and management with the local budget advisory service.

She is current president of the Dannevirke Art Society and a committee member of the Dannevirke Chamber of Commerce.

District development and “putting Tararua on the map” are high on the agenda.

Health and social services are primary issues for Mrs Hull who is the southern rural representative on the Central and Tararua PHOs (Primary Health Organisations) and has a farming background.

She has been a committee member of POTI (Pahiatua On Track) with responsibility for accounts and administration.

Mr Johns has a farming and business background and is currently in real estate as a PGG Wrightson consultant.

In his new role he is keen to enhance Woodville’s position as the “shop window” and to increase resident and visitor numbers to Tararua.
