Mayor Ray Wallace elected chair of Zone 4 Committee

Lower Hutt Mayor Ray Wallace has been elected chair of the Local Government Zone 4 Committee and is honoured to be given the opportunity.

“It’s a privilege to be elected chair of the committee and I’m looking forward to working together with the other committee members.

The committee is made up of all the Mayors in the Lower North Island and council representatives. The group meet regularly to share information and work with Local Government New Zealand.

“I’d like to see regional council and district and city councils work more closely together for the best interests of our region.

“As chair of this committee I’m in a key position to help make this happen.

“One of the areas I’m keen for the committee to work on is strengthening the role of community boards across the region. Community boards are strong advocates for the communities they represent and are an important part of local government,” he says.
