Santa Parade on Sunday
Santa and his tireless reindeer are travelling the world to all the parades in the lead-up to Christmas, and he's coming to Wellington this weekend for one day only.
Santa's making a flying visit to Wellington
Head along to the central city and you'll see Santa lead a cast of children's favourites like Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Weta Workshop's The Wot Wots and lots of other floats full of fun and entertainment.
The parade starts at the corner of Lambton Quay and Ballance Street at 2.00pm and winds its way up Lambton Quay, along Willis Street, then Wakefield Street before finishing at Cuba Street.
The Council's City Events Manager, Lauren Fantham, says about 60,000 are expected to come into town that day.
"As usual, we ask those who can to leave their cars at home and either walk or take public transport into town," she says.
As with any large event, there are corresponding road closures (see below).
The rain date for the Santa Parade is Sunday 21 November. If the parade is postponed, this will be announced on Newstalk ZB at 9.00am on Sunday 14 November.
If you're not usually up by that time on a Sunday, feel free to phone us on (04) 499 4444 for cancellations.
