Mayor Ray Wallace is following through on his pre-election promises after getting councillors’ support to review Hutt City Council’s operations and activities.

A report outlining the scope of the review was endorsed by Council at last night’s Council meeting.

“During my election campaign I made a pledge to Hutt City ratepayers that I would review council’s operations and activities.

“My aim is to reprioritise expenditure to increase investment and development in our city.

“This is about making sure we’re using our resources effectively and in the best interest of our communities,” he says.

The review will be conducted by a project team made up of members of the Finance and Audit Committee under the leadership of Deputy Mayor David Bassett.

“I want David to take the lead on this project as it’s important for our city and I’m sure he’ll do a great job,” says Mayor Wallace.

The project team is set to deliver recommendations to Council in March next year.
