Construction begins at Christchurch Airport's logistics precinct

Construction is underway for the first major tenant in Christchurch’s Airport’s new freight and logistics precinct, Dakota Park.

Recall is a global leader in managing information in various forms throughout its lifecycle and will lease a 2.4 hectare site in Dakota Park.

“A new site for expansion of freight and logistics facilities has been needed at the airport for some time and we’re delighted Recall is the first tenant in our park,” says Christchurch International Airport Ltd (CIAL) General Manager Property, Blair Forgie.

CIAL has contracted Arrow International to construct a purpose-built information centre and office facility for Recall over the next year.

Recall is part of the Brambles group and has approximately 300 dedicated operation centres, spanning five continents, in more than 20 countries, servicing nearly 80,000 customers worldwide. Locally, it manages information for many of the region’s largest public and private organisations.

“Our new site will be a state-of-the-art facility and will enhance our operations in the South Island,” said General Manager of Recall New Zealand, Marcos Mota. “It will consolidate our market leadership by allowing us to offer an even higher level of service to our clients.”

CIAL Chief Executive Jim Boult says the signing of Recall represents the start of a property development programme for the airport company which will bring economic benefits to the wider Canterbury region as new business is attracted to the city.

“Further design-build development opportunities for Dakota Park are also being worked through,” says Blair Forgie.

Major roading and services infrastructure work in the 80-hectare Dakota Park began in April 2010, including the extension of Ron Guthrey Rd for two kilometres through the site. Construction of the Recall facility began in September 2010 and will be completed by September 2011.
