Southern Hospitality Ltd, New Zealand’s leading hospitality and foodservice equipment supply company announces a major expansion programme and with this the appointment of Andy Doherty as CEO says Managing Director Roger Fewtrell, who established Southern Hospitality some 22 years ago.
With the opening of its fourteenth branch in New Plymouth in October, further expansion in New Zealand is limited and Mr Fewtrell will focus on a new challenge heading up a team opening in Sydney, Australia.
Mr Fewtrell will ‘hand the reigns’ for the New Zealand operation over to Andy Doherty. Mr Doherty has been a member of the company’s senior management team for over ten years and a Director for the past four years.
Based in Christchurch Andy Doherty says ‘I have been a part of the exponential growth of the company from just two branches in Dunedin and Christchurch employing twenty one staff to now employing over 200 staff at 14 branches and having a sales representative within an hour of most towns and cities.’
Mr Doherty has had a long involvement in the hospitality industry having previously worked for Moffat Ltd, New Zealand’s largest commercial foodservice equipment manufacturer and market leader in both New Zealand and Australia. Prior to that Andy worked with Washtech the leading manufacturer of commercial dishwashing systems. With these companies he gained extensive international experience having worked in sales, marketing and business development in Australia, China, South East Asia and South Africa.
Mr Doherty says his vision for the future of Southern Hospitality is to continue to extend the strengths the company has through enhancing and growing the skills our staff have, continually sourcing new products that improve efficiencies for customers, and assisting them to grow their businesses. ‘It is a very rewarding industry to work in as the payback time is often very short and customers can reap the rewards of change quickly.
