International Recognition for New Zealand Walking Judges
Geoff Annear and Peter Wrigley have been recently named on the IAAF Race Walking Judges Panel for 2011 – 2014. With only 31 judges on the panel, the appointment of two New Zealanders shows the high regard in which they are held internationally. There are only fourteen judges from outside Europe and three from the Oceania region. Wrigley continues his role on the panel, while Annear is a new appointment.
For the period to the end of 2012, Annear has been appointed to officiate at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu Korea in 2011, and Wrigley will judge at the London Olympics in 2012.
Annear and Wrigley join another New Zealand official, Trevor Spittle (International Technical Official) in the highest level of international athletics officiating.
